About the role
The Quantity Surveying Lead (PMC) will own end‑to‑end cost management, commercial control and financial governance for large‑scale energy infrastructure projects, including power transmission, substations, HVDC and hybrid renewable assets. Reporting to the PMO, the role ensures cost optimisation, contractual compliance and transparent financial reporting across all project phases.
Key responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive cost plans and budgets from concept through detailed design, including benchmarking and life‑cycle cost assessments.
- Prepare and validate Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and perform detailed quantity take‑offs for EHV transmission lines, substations and renewable systems.
- Establish cost control systems, monitor budget vs. actual, analyse variances and deliver monthly cost reports and dashboards.
- Conduct rate analysis using price books, schedules of rates and market intelligence to validate contractor submissions.
- Administer contracts under NEC, FIDIC and JCT frameworks, managing variation orders, change requests and claims.
- Develop procurement strategies, support vendor pre‑qualification, bid evaluation and contract award recommendations.
- Integrate cost management with project scheduling (Primavera P6 / MS Project) and produce cost‑loaded schedules.
- Coordinate commercial matters with client/owner, EPC contractors, design consultants and finance teams.
- Perform carbon footprint assessments and support ESG and sustainability reporting.
- Lead and mentor quantity surveying teams, standardise BOQ structures and share best practices.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (Master’s preferred).
- 12+ years of quantity surveying and cost management experience on large infrastructure/energy projects.
- Experience with Indian infrastructure projects is preferred.
- MRICS certification or working towards it is highly desirable.
