Python Developer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Python Developer to design, build and maintain production‑grade applications using Python and Django. The role involves working on complex, distributed systems and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, high‑performance solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and ship production applications on Python/Django or equivalent stacks.
• Design and optimise database schemas, write migrations and tune SQL queries.
• Architect and implement async workflows, event‑driven components and message‑queue integrations.
• Build and maintain AWS services such as Lambda, SQS and SNS.
• Collaborate on front‑end features using React, including class‑component patterns.
• Apply AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) to improve productivity.
• Analyse ambiguous requirements, raise trade‑offs and ensure robust system design.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience building production applications with Python/Django.
• Strong systems thinking – able to reason about distributed state, failure modes and long‑term design trade‑offs.
• Deep understanding of SQL, data modelling, migrations and query optimisation.
• Experience with distributed systems, async workflows and event‑driven architecture.
• Proactive communicator who can clarify vague requirements and highlight trade‑offs.
