Public Health Consultant – Technical Support Unit

About the role

PATH is seeking a senior public health consultant to join the Technical Support Unit (TSU) that will guide the design, implementation and scaling of India’s Metropolitan Disease Surveillance program. The consultant will work closely with national health authorities, development partners and private sector stakeholders to ensure the program’s success and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance on designing, implementing and scaling the Metropolitan Disease Surveillance program in alignment with national priorities and international best practices.
• Support the Senior Public Health Specialist in developing surveillance strategies, frameworks and tools.
• Identify enablers and barriers to implementation and propose strategic solutions.
• Conduct implementation research, document innovations, and prepare policy briefs for scaling successful interventions.
• Explore private‑sector partnership opportunities and develop recommendations for long‑term sustainability.
• Coordinate with government counterparts, development partners and technical agencies to ensure integrated, multi‑sectoral surveillance approaches.
• Provide expertise on geospatial epidemiology tools and their application for disease prediction.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, or a related field.
• Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in disease surveillance, epidemiological research and health systems strengthening.
• Proven track record of working with government agencies, multilateral donors and private‑sector partners.
• Strong analytical and policy‑writing skills, with experience producing briefs and recommendations.
