Project Engineering Manager – Substation Design

About the role

ASSYSTEM is seeking an experienced Project Engineering Manager to lead substation design projects. The role ensures engineering activities are delivered on time, within quality and cost targets, while coordinating across civil, structural, MEP and instrumentation disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with the Project Planning Manager to align deliveries with the project schedule.
• Lead regular project review meetings and drive schedule adherence.
• Review designs, calculations and drawings, securing timely customer approvals.
• Manage vendor interactions, material deliveries and procurement issues.
• Oversee BIM implementation and ensure accurate Bill of Materials estimation.
• Lead and mentor a team of design leads, engineers and draughtsmen.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience in primary and secondary design of AIS/GIS substations up to 765 kV.
• Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and deliver projects across multiple geographies.
• Strong understanding of contractual technical requirements and excellent interviewing skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Familiarity with ETAP, PSCAD and CYMGRD.
• Experience in BIM implementation for engineering projects.
• Knowledge of power transformers, reactors, circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers, earthing, lighting, lightning protection and SCADA/control systems.
