Production Operator – Extrusion & Compounding

About the role

The Color & SEM (Extrusion Machine) Operator is responsible for the efficient operation of extrusion and compounding lines, ensuring product quality meets defined specifications. This role works on the shop floor, handling raw material feeding, process monitoring, and coordination with quality and maintenance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor extrusion and compounding lines using HMI/SCADA systems.
• Feed raw materials accurately according to batch formulations.
• Enter production data in SAP and maintain shift‑wise records in Excel or system logs.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment issues to minimise downtime.
• Maintain process parameters and work with the Quality team on deviations.
• Handle material dosing, mixing, and pelletising (underwater and strand).
• Perform packing operations, including safe handling of 25‑30 kg bags.
• Enforce safety standards, SOPs, and 6S practices.
• Support preventive maintenance and report equipment abnormalities.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of polymer materials such as engineering plastics, elastomers, and commodity plastics.
• Experience with process control systems (HMI/SCADA) and SAP data entry.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for long periods and lifting up to 55 lb regularly.
• Commitment to safety procedures, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to SOPs.
• Effective coordination with manpower and cross‑functional teams.
