Product Engineer - Geospatial Data Science

About the role

Esri’s New Delhi R&D Center is seeking a Product Engineer to ensure the quality and usability of geospatial AI tools, models and libraries. You will design test plans, write test code, validate software, SDKs and AI models, and create documentation and tutorials for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement test plans, write test code, and verify code changes and bug fixes.
• Review test results, report software quality status, and certify SDK and AI model quality.
• Troubleshoot and triage customer issues, analyzing feedback for improvements.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers on testing, documentation, and release of tools, APIs, and pretrained models.
• Create samples, tutorials, blog posts, and presentations of product features.

Required profile

• 2‑6 years of experience in software development or QA, preferably in product‑based or geospatial consulting firms.
• Hands‑on experience with QA processes, test automation, and product certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, engineering, computer science, mathematics or related field.
• Existing work authorization for India.

Required skills

• Python programming and Jupyter notebooks.
• GIS libraries such as GDAL, Rasterio, ArcPy.
• Testing frameworks like Pytest.
• Familiarity with GIS concepts, spatial data and geospatial workflows.
• Basic understanding of machine‑learning and deep‑learning workflows.
• Technical writing for samples, blog posts and documentation.
