Procurement Operations Specialist

About the role

IBM Finance & Operations is seeking a Procurement Operations Specialist to manage end‑to‑end procurement activities for basic goods and services. The role involves vendor onboarding, quotation handling, contract evaluation and ensuring compliance with client requirements while supporting IBM’s global operations.

Key responsibilities

• Review requisition requirements and identify non‑catalog purchases.
• Collaborate with requesters to gather additional information.
• Determine sourcing options from the master file and negotiate cost savings where applicable.
• Interpret contract details and manage low‑value purchase services.
• Confirm pricing, delivery, and purchase order receipt.
• Utilize ERP tools for procurement processes and adhere to client‑specific procedures.
• Set up new suppliers and maintain all supplier documentation.
• Interface with clients and suppliers on payment issues alongside the tactical commodity manager.
• Generate reports and maintain team trackers using Microsoft Excel.
• Ensure audit readiness of all purchasing documents.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience in procurement, preferably as an Operations Buyer for global organizations.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in the North America time zone (7:30 PM – 4:30 AM IST).
• Knowledge of contracting and vendor management is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP tools supporting procurement.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel for reporting and data tracking.
