Process Engineer (Pick & Place/Mounter)

About the role

The Process Engineer will be responsible for setting up, operating and continuously improving pick‑and‑place and mounter equipment used in PCB assembly. You will work closely with NPI, quality and production teams to ensure new products are launched efficiently and existing processes meet yield and cost targets.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain process windows, control plans and CTQs for all products.
• Set up, program, operate and optimise pick‑and‑place and mounter machines, including feeder loading, nozzle selection and calibration.
• Conduct DOE, process validation and first‑article inspections for new products and materials.
• Validate BOM, centroid files and Gerber data before production runs.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions and SOPs.
• Lead ramp‑up activities, monitor yield, cycle time and scrap, and drive corrective actions.
• Perform root‑cause analysis using SPI data, SPC charts, FMEA and failure analysis.
• Collaborate with quality, NPI and customers to resolve manufacturing issues and ensure compliance with ESD, safety and IPC standards.
• Drive operational excellence through Lean, Kaizen and Poka‑yoke initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (electrical, mechanical or related).
• Experience with pick‑and‑place or mounter equipment in an electronics manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to lead process validation, ramp‑up and continuous‑improvement projects.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work cross‑functionally with NPI, quality and production teams.
