Principal Software Engineer

About the role

Join Mastercard's Real Time Payments (RTP) Platform, Tooling & Engineering Enablement team as a senior technical individual contributor. You will drive engineering excellence across RTP, aligning the platform with Mastercard standards while advancing developer experience, AI enablement, and governance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide subject‑matter expertise to improve how RTP builds, tests, and ships software.
• Architect secure, resilient, and scalable solutions with clear, documented designs.
• Analyze data and inefficiencies, turning findings into actionable recommendations.
• Identify and adopt approved technologies that enhance RTP engineering practices.
• Drive practical AI adoption across RTP engineering teams using approved tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience in software engineering and architecture, preferably with Java.
• Proven background in platform engineering, cloud environments, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Demonstrated technical leadership on complex problems and experience influencing teams without direct authority.
• Experience presenting to executive audiences and mentoring engineers in high‑performance cultures.
