Principal Officer (MLRO) - KYC AML Compliance

About the role

Axi, a global provider of margin and deliverable FX, CFDs and spread betting, is looking for a Principal Officer (also called Money Laundering Reporting Officer, MLRO) for its Trading Platform in Bengaluru. The role is the single point of contact for all KYC-AML/CFT matters, ensures compliance with local and international AML-CFT regulations, and identifies money laundering risks.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the product and business comply with local and international KYC norms and laws
• File STRs with FIU-IND in an error-free and timely manner
• Build engines to highlight and mitigate crypto deposit risks, create risk policies on vendor output flags, and stay updated on global VDA travel rule regulations to shape company SOPs
• Develop a sanction screening framework and own the KYC and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) pod so onboarded customers remain compliant
• Work with the Product team to build ML risk engines that detect fraudulent transactions
• Liaise with law enforcement agencies to resolve KYC-related issues
• Own internal KYC-EDD and other compliance SOPs

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience, preferably in financial services, trading or fintech
• At least 2-3 years as a Principal Officer
• Bachelor's degree from a premier Indian college; post-graduation is a plus
• Experience in fintech, digital or high-growth start-ups valued
• Deep understanding of compliance and risk, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
