Principal Mobile Engineer

About the role

Payoneer is building the next generation of its mobile application – a lightweight, high‑performance platform that enables product teams to add features independently while keeping the app coherent, fast, and stable. As a Principal Mobile Engineer you will define the core tech stack, shape the host‑application foundation, and establish the contribution model used by all product teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the evaluation and decision‑making for the mobile tech stack (native iOS/Android, Flutter, React Native, or hybrid) based on performance, binary size, hiring market, release velocity, and long‑term maintenance.
• Design and implement the host application architecture, including module boundaries, navigation, lifecycle, dependency injection, state management, concurrency, networking, persistence, observability, logging, and release tooling.
• Define and maintain the testing strategy across unit, integration, and UI levels.
• Create a clear contribution model (public APIs, lifecycle hooks, versioning, build and integration patterns) for product teams to deliver features.
• Collaborate with a peer Principal Engineer and defend technical choices to engineering, product, and executive leadership.

Required profile

• Proven senior technical leadership in designing large‑scale mobile platforms.
• Strong decision‑making ability with a data‑driven approach to technology evaluation.
• Excellent communication skills to influence engineering, product, and executive stakeholders.
• Experience working in fast‑moving, global fintech or cloud‑platform environments.

Required skills

• Swift (iOS) and Kotlin (Android) development.
• Flutter and React Native frameworks.
