Principal Designer – BIM Electrical

About the role

Principal Designer – BIM Electrical will lead the development of 3D BIM models for electrical building systems on large‑scale projects, primarily in the Middle East region, while supporting the Enterprise Capabilities team at AECOM in Gurugram.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain 3D BIM models for electrical systems using Autodesk Revit in line with project specifications and standards.
• Produce detailed construction drawings such as lighting layouts, power distribution, cable routing, containment, earthing and single‑line diagrams.
• Ensure compliance with the BIM Execution Plan, Level of Development and project‑specific standards.
• Coordinate with architecture, structure and MEP teams to resolve clashes and integrate systems.
• Perform QA/QC checks on models and drawings and maintain Revit families, templates and content libraries.
• Provide training and technical support to design staff and contribute to BIM standards and workflow improvements.

Required profile

• 10‑15 years of Revit‑based electrical design and drafting experience on large‑scale Middle East projects.
• Strong knowledge of BIM processes, LOD, BEP and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and mentor junior team members.
• Excellent attention to detail and proactive problem‑solving attitude.

Required skills

• Autodesk Revit (MEP) for electrical systems.
• Navisworks for clash detection and coordination.
• Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360 platforms.
• Creation and management of Revit families, templates and content libraries.
