Primary Planner

About the role

The Primary Planner is responsible for end‑to‑end planning and coordination of materials, production schedules, and supply chain activities to support customer demand and business objectives within the Varian Semiconductor Business Unit.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and execute production and material plans to meet customer demand and business commitments.
• Analyze demand forecasts and translate requirements into actionable production schedules.
• Ensure material availability through effective coordination with Procurement, Sourcing, and Suppliers.
• Monitor and manage inventory levels to balance customer service, inventory investment, and operational efficiency.
• Lead planning activities for New Product Introduction (NPI), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and product transitions.
• Identify supply chain risks, material shortages, and capacity constraints and develop mitigation plans.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing to support production schedules and ensure on‑time order fulfillment.
• Track and report key performance indicators such as on‑time delivery, inventory turns, backlog, and schedule adherence.
• Support Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) processes through demand and supply analysis.
• Maintain planning data integrity within ERP/MRP systems and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in production planning, material planning, supply chain management, or manufacturing operations.
• Experience in a high‑tech manufacturing environment, preferably semiconductor capital equipment.
• Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and supply chain planning processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
