Policy and Economics Officer

About the role

The Policy and Economics Officer will support the Senior Economist and the Policy Unit in advancing UNDP India’s strategic priorities through integrated policy initiatives and programmes. The role involves linking policy and programme work, building partnerships, and promoting evidence‑based development interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare substantive inputs for strategic policy documents on climate change, livelihoods, health, gender and SDG localisation.
• Coordinate with programme teams, external partners and the UNDP/Bangkok Regional Hub to develop and approve new policy initiatives.
• Apply Result Based Management tools, monitor project performance, and prepare regular output and outcome reports.
• Identify funding opportunities, draft briefs for project financing and co‑financing, and represent UNDP in relevant meetings.
• Develop knowledge products, capture lessons learned and contribute to regional and global knowledge networks.

Required profile

• Experience in policy formulation, project management and results‑based monitoring.
• Strong analytical and coordination skills with ability to work across UNDP teams and external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage financial and operational aspects of projects and to address audit recommendations.
