Planning Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a Planning Specialist to join Flex’s manufacturing operations in Chennai. The professional will support the Customer Focus Team by ensuring accurate material planning for multiple projects, helping the company meet on‑time delivery commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expertise and support to the Customer Focus Team for material planning across projects.
• Maintain weekly production planned orders and ensure kits are delivered on schedule.
• Generate timely material status reports, manage excess and obsolete inventory submissions.
• Oversee work order management, inventory control, MRB and DR processes.
• Act as senior materials planner for new NPI accounts, communicating forecasts and shipments using the waterfall method.
• Analyze material and capacity availability, create aggressive yet achievable loading schedules.
• Run weekly system reports to identify shortages and collaborate with the buying team for resolution.
• Implement inventory management measures to optimize stock levels.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in planning or supply‑chain functions.
• Strong knowledge of the full planning cycle (MPS, MRP, demand, materials and production planning).
• Familiarity with engineering BOMs, product structure, EOL and ECO processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Planning tools such as Kinaxis (preferred).
• ERP/P2P systems – BAAN, SAP, Oracle.
• Knowledge of MPS, MRP, demand planning and production planning concepts.
