Pavement Design Engineer

About the role

Assystem is seeking a Pavement Design Engineer to lead the design, analysis and evaluation of airfield pavements such as runways, taxiways and aprons. The role involves ensuring compliance with international aviation standards and delivering cost‑effective, sustainable pavement solutions for airport infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design flexible and rigid pavements for runways, taxiways and aprons using FAA, ICAO and DGCA guidelines.
• Perform pavement thickness, overlay and rehabilitation design, and analyse traffic loading and subgrade characteristics.
• Utilise pavement design software and methods (FAARFIELDCOMFAAAASHTO) to generate design reports, drawings and BOQs.
• Review geotechnical reports, integrate inputs, and coordinate with structural, geotechnical and airport planning teams.
• Provide technical support during construction, conduct site investigations, and verify compliance through quality‑assurance reviews.
• Develop cost estimates, evaluate sustainability options and prepare maintenance and performance monitoring recommendations.

Required profile

• B.Tech / M.Tech in Civil Engineering, preferably specialised in Transportation or Pavement Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in pavement design, with exposure to airport or airfield projects.
• Familiarity with international codes such as FAA and ICAO.

Required skills

• Proficiency with pavement design software and related calculation methods.
• Advanced MS Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• AutoCAD for preparing design drawings and BOQs.
