Patent Attorney – IP Specialist

About the role

CNH Industrial is seeking a Patent Attorney to manage and protect its intellectual property portfolio across agriculture and construction technologies. The role involves driving patent filings, prosecution, infringement risk assessment, and competitor monitoring while providing IP advisory support to product development and business teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the global patent portfolio for assigned technologies and products.
• Conduct patent investigations, state-of-the-art searches, freedom-to-operate studies and patent landscape analyses.
• Advise product development on infringement issues, design-around options and patentability of proposed designs.
• Review invention disclosures, draft and prosecute patent applications, and represent the company before the India Patent Office.
• Monitor competitors’ patents and activities, and coordinate actions to address potential infringements.
• Draft, review and negotiate IP-related contracts, joint development agreements, licenses, supplier agreements and NDAs.
• Provide IP training to internal personnel and oversee outside counsel when required.

Required profile

• Proven ability to manage a global patent portfolio for assigned technologies.
• Experience conducting IP investigations, freedom-to-operate studies and patent landscape assessments.
• Capability to advise on infringement risk and develop design-around strategies.
• Familiarity with drafting and prosecuting patent applications and interacting with patent offices.
• Strong understanding of IP contract negotiation and training delivery.
