Node.js Developer

About the role

HackerKernel, an IT software services firm, is seeking a Node.js Developer to build and maintain scalable backend systems for web and mobile applications. The role is office‑based in Bhopal’s IT Park and offers a full‑time, permanent contract.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance backend applications using Node.js.
• Build secure RESTful APIs with Express.js and/or NestJS for web and mobile clients.
• Work with MongoDB, MySQL and/or PostgreSQL, handling schema design, indexing and query optimisation.
• Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms (JWT, OAuth, etc.).
• Integrate third‑party services such as payment gateways and notification platforms.
• Write clean, reusable, well‑documented code and follow best practices for asynchronous programming.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and optimise performance issues in development, staging and production environments.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, project managers and other technical teams.

Required profile

• 3–4 years of professional Node.js backend development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Node.js and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
• Hands‑on experience with Express.js and/or NestJS.
• Proven ability to design and implement REST APIs.
• Solid understanding of async/await, Promises, callbacks and the event loop.
• Experience with at least one database: MongoDB, PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Familiarity with JWT, OAuth and general API security concepts.
• Proficient with Git and collaborative workflows on GitHub/GitLab.
