Middleware System Manager

About the role

Avaloq is seeking a skilled Middleware System Manager to ensure high availability, performance, and security of its enterprise middleware platforms. The role supports critical banking applications and works within a fast‑paced fintech environment, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable SaaS solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain middleware platforms and application servers such as JBoss, Apache Tomcat, Nginx and WildFly.
• Administer clustering, load‑balancing and high‑availability setups, and perform patching, upgrades and security hardening.
• Monitor system health, logs and performance; resolve incidents within SLA timelines.
• Analyse JVM performance using thread dumps, heap dumps and tuning techniques.
• Manage SSL certificates, keystores, trust stores and user access controls.
• Automate routine tasks with Shell scripting and support production, DR and migration activities.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with JBoss, Apache Tomcat, Nginx or WildFly.
• Strong Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Proven ability to tune JVM, analyze garbage collection and optimise application performance.
• Experience with networking protocols (HTTP/S, DNS, LDAP, REST, SOAP, TLS/SSL, TCP/IP).
• Familiarity with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (OCI, AWS, Azure) is a plus.
