Mechanical Engineer – Semiconductor Equipment Design

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions for chips and advanced displays, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to perform engineering analysis and systems‑level design evaluation for semiconductor equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform engineering analysis and systems‑level design evaluation under general supervision.
• Design or modify mechanical layouts, schematics, and specifications.
• Conduct simulation‑based analysis (FEA, thermal, CFD) to validate designs and troubleshoot results.
• Diagnose and resolve moderately complex to complex mechanical problems using systematic root‑cause analysis.
• Coordinate with cross‑functional and multi‑domain teams from ideation through production release.
• Document comprehensive engineering test reports and generate release documentation.
• Support handling, assembly, disassembly, and lifecycle management of parts and assemblies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 4‑6 years of mechanical design, engineering, or product development experience.
• Hands‑on experience with simulation tools (FEA, CFD, thermal analysis – ANSYS or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of mechanical fundamentals (stress analysis, material properties, thermal systems, dynamics).
• Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, CATIA or equivalent).
• Knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing methods.
