Mechanical Engineer – Rack PDU Product Line

About the role

Vertiv is looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineer to own the Rack PDU product line for its India manufacturing sites. You will work closely with the global Rack PDU team to localise designs, ensure compliance with global standards, and support production ramp‑up.

Key responsibilities

• Take end‑to‑end ownership of the Rack PDU product line as the primary technical contact for the India site.
• Collaborate with the global engineering team to interpret design intent, specifications and standards.
• Localise and integrate electro‑mechanical designs for manufacturing in India.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation such as BOMs, assembly drawings, schematics and work instructions.
• Guide the factory team through production ramp‑up, resolve shop‑floor engineering issues.
• Conduct design reviews, failure analysis and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with procurement, quality, supply chain and manufacturing engineering for smooth product introduction.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, UL, CE, BIS and other safety regulations.
• Support product testing, validation and certification activities.
• Identify cost‑reduction and value‑engineering opportunities.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of experience in a mechanical engineering role.
• Proven experience with Vertiv plant installations (switchgear, UPS, CRAC, busbar, etc.).
• Demonstrated leadership in achieving installation targets.
• Willingness to travel (50% Ambernath, 50% Pune) and a passport valid for at least six more months.
• Experience representing the company on client sites.
• Experience with modular or “skidded” installations.

Required skills

• Commissioning platforms: Compass, BIM360, Aconex (or similar).
• Electro‑mechanical design integration.
• Bill of Materials (BOM) creation and management.
• Assembly drawing and schematic development.
