Mechanical Engineer – MEP – Substation & HVDC

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer – MEP – Substation & HVDC will lead the design, installation, testing, commissioning and handover of mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems for high‑voltage substations and HVDC terminal stations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and coordinate design, installation, testing, commissioning and handover of MEP systems for substations and HVDC terminal stations.
• Review and comment on MEP design criteria, calculations, specifications and vendor documents, including HVAC heat‑load, equipment cooling and fire‑protection systems.
• Verify compliance of installed equipment, piping, ducting and supports with approved drawings and standards.
• Coordinate MEP interfaces with civil, structural, electrical, control and BMS teams and ensure proper access, clearances and safety provisions.
• Lead system performance testing, functional testing and preparation of punch‑lists, NCRs and as‑built documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in MEP, HVAC and mechanical auxiliary systems for power or large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Experience with EHV substations, GIS buildings, converter halls or similar critical facilities.
• Knowledge of applicable codes, standards and commissioning procedures.

Required skills

• HVAC design and cooling‑load calculations.
• Fire‑water and fire‑protection system design.
• Plumbing, potable‑water and drainage system design.
• Mechanical equipment specification (pumps, chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, AHUs).
• Piping and ductwork design, pressure testing and balancing.
• Integration with BMS, fire‑alarm and emergency shutdown systems.
