Mechanical Engineer – Bangalore, India

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its Bangalore team. You will apply physics, mathematics and materials science to solve mechanical challenges, design custom tooling, and support the full product life‑cycle of semiconductor equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform engineering analysis and troubleshoot moderate‑difficulty mechanical problems under general supervision.
• Design, modify and document mechanical layouts, schematics, drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate procurement and assembly of mechanical components, identifying critical parts to resolve technical issues.
• Develop custom tooling, fixturing and associated processes as needed.
• Enable handling, assembly and disassembly of parts, sub‑assemblies and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7–10 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with CAD software, thermodynamics, sheet‑metal design and manufacturing methods.
• Familiarity with GD&T, flow analysis and Design for Excellence principles.
• Preferred experience in semiconductor wafer fab equipment design.
