Mechanical Design Engineer – Special Purpose Machines

About the role

Quest Global is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop special purpose machines (SPM). You will work on concept creation, detailed 3D modeling, and collaborate with global engineering teams to deliver high‑quality machine solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Organise design and verification reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
• Apply basic engineering design principles to each project activity.
• Create complex 3D sheet‑metal and casting models, assemblies and 2D detailed drawings of SPMs using SolidWorks.
• Conceptualise and design special purpose machines based on specific manufacturing requirements.
• Integrate bought‑out components such as motors, cylinders and actuators into machine designs.
• Apply GD&T principles to ensure component accuracy and precision.
• Conduct daily progress reporting to the Team Leader and perform internal quality checks.
• Support validation activities and perform hand calculations to justify designs.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in machine design or special purpose machines.
• Proven ability to develop detailed concepts independently.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills; French is a plus.
• Experience in coordinating with global engineering teams.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (3D modeling, sheet‑metal and casting design).
• Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Material selection, properties and heat‑treatment knowledge.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes used on the shop floor.
• Integration of motors, cylinders and actuators.
• Hand calculations and design validation.
