Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and integration of underwater electro‑mechanical systems. The role focuses on developing pressure‑resistant housings, seals and gaskets, and ensuring compliance with stringent marine and defence standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and integration of underwater electro‑mechanical systems.
• Develop pressure‑resistant housings, seals, and gaskets for underwater environments.
• Create and review 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, general‑arrangement layouts and assembly documentation.
• Design solutions for waterproofing, corrosion resistance and thermal management.
• Collaborate with optics, electronics and materials teams to maintain system integrity.
• Support prototype builds, testing and validation in pressure chambers and underwater trials.
• Ensure compliance with MIL‑STD and IP68/IP69K standards.
• Coordinate with vendors for precision machining, sealing components and specialised materials.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth.

Required profile

• Experience designing underwater connectors, housings or propulsion systems.
• Knowledge of marine standards and defence requirements.
• Ability to deliver in fast‑track development environments.
• Strong team spirit and leadership qualities.

Required skills

• 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawing creation.
• General‑arrangement layout development.
• Design for waterproofing, corrosion resistance and thermal management.
• Familiarity with MIL‑STD and IP68/IP69K standards.
• Experience with pressure‑resistant housings, seals and gaskets.
• Prototype build support and testing in pressure chambers and underwater trials.
• Vendor coordination for precision machining and specialised materials.
