Materials Project Management Specialist

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Materials Project Management professional to lead forecasting, sourcing, and material strategy for semiconductor manufacturing in Bangalore. You will work closely with engineering, planning, and supplier teams to ensure timely delivery of critical components and drive cost‑effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Forecast and communicate engineering, materials, and manufacturing requirements to suppliers.
• Perform make‑versus‑buy analysis and support outsourcing decisions.
• Coordinate demand signals through MRP to minimize inventory exposure.
• Lead the Materials Core Team, managing product development deliverables across buyers, planners, and production control.
• Negotiate supplier pricing, delivery terms, and contracts, and conduct supplier risk assessments.
• Manage material change control, cost targets, and quality issue resolution.
• Generate and publish key process indicators and track total landed cost targets.
• Collaborate with engineering to identify critical and long‑lead parts and develop supplier road‑maps.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in materials project management and supply‑chain processes.
• Strong knowledge of best practices and how materials functions integrate with engineering and quality.
• Ability to lead small projects and mentor less‑experienced colleagues.
• Proven problem‑solving skills and sound judgment based on multiple data sources.
• Effective communication to explain complex information and build consensus.
