Material Handler (Forklift Operator)

About the role

Vestas is seeking a reliable Material Handler to join its Chennai One Tool Warehouse. You will operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to ensure safe, efficient movement of goods throughout the warehouse.

Key responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and authorized MHE safely and efficiently.
• Perform loading, unloading, stacking, picking, and put‑away activities.
• Conduct pre‑shift inspections and daily safety checks on equipment.
• Report equipment abnormalities via the AME system.
• Assist with crane rigging and safe lifting practices.
• Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards in assigned areas.
• Follow FIFO, FEFO, and inventory control processes.
• Support inbound and outbound operations according to SOPs.
• Participate in near‑miss reporting, safety training, and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Help with periodic inventory counts and stock verification.

Required profile

• Diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Valid Forklift Operator Certification.
• 3‑5 years of experience in warehouse operations and forklift handling.
• Basic knowledge of warehouse processes, inventory management, and material handling.
• Understanding of warehouse safety standards and industrial regulations.
• Experience with SAP or Warehouse Management Systems is a plus.
