Material & Corrosion Engineer

About the role

The Material & Corrosion Engineer is responsible for ensuring the integrity and reliability of equipment and structures through appropriate material selection, corrosion risk assessment, and protective strategies. This role supports engineering teams, procurement, and maintenance functions across on‑shore and offshore projects.

Key responsibilities

• Select metallic and non‑metallic materials based on temperature, pressure, corrosion, and environmental conditions.
• Prepare material selection reports, specifications, and evaluate compatibility for piping, equipment, and structures.
• Conduct corrosion studies, identify mechanisms (general, pitting, crevice, galvanic, SCC, MIC, erosion), and recommend mitigation measures.
• Develop corrosion management plans and asset integrity strategies.
• Review and recommend protective coating systems and design cathodic protection schemes.
• Monitor coating performance and support inspection and maintenance programs.
• Perform failure analysis, root‑cause investigations, and support fitness‑for‑service assessments.
