Material Coordinator – Shipbuilding (Mechanical & Electrical Materials)

About the role

The Material Coordinator will manage the receipt, inspection, storage, issuance, and tracking of mechanical and electrical materials at a shipyard. The role ensures that project teams have the right materials at the right time while maintaining accurate inventory records.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming electrical and mechanical materials against purchase orders and specifications.
• Organise and store materials systematically in designated yard or storage areas.
• Maintain accurate records of stock levels, receipts, issues, transfers, and returns.
• Issue materials to project/site teams as per approved requirements and update stock registers.
• Coordinate with procurement, project, production, and site teams regarding material needs and replenishment.
• Monitor material availability, flag shortages or delays, and support timely project execution.
• Conduct regular physical stock audits and report discrepancies.
• Ensure proper documentation, tagging, and safe handling of all materials.

Required profile

• B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 4–5 years of experience in material management, stores, or inventory coordination, preferably in shipbuilding, ship repair, or marine fabrication.
• Ability to work independently in a shipyard environment and coordinate with multiple teams.
