Manager, Application Security

About the role

OpenGov is seeking an experienced Manager of Application Security to lead its growing AppSec team. The role combines technical expertise with people leadership to embed a secure‑by‑design culture across the engineering organization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the Application Security team, driving engagement, growth and technical excellence.
• Develop and execute the application security roadmap, strengthening the security posture of product suites and APIs.
• Embed OWASP ASVS and OWASP Top 10 guidance into coding standards, architecture reviews and threat modeling.
• Oversee selection, deployment and integration of AppSec tools (SAST, DAST, SCA, ASPM) into CI/CD pipelines.
• Report risk metrics, remediation progress and program effectiveness to senior leadership.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in Application Security, Software Engineering or related fields, with at least 3 years leading security teams.
• Deep understanding of OWASP ASVS, OWASP Top 10 and secure software development practices.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and ability to influence technical and non‑technical teams.

Required skills

• OWASP ASVS and OWASP Top 10
• SAST, DAST, SCA, API security, ASPM tools
• CI/CD pipeline integration and security automation
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, GovRAMP and FedRAMP
