Maintenance Technician - PLC & Industrial Machinery

About the role

Exponent Energy works with its Maintenance & Engineering team to keep highly automated EV battery and component manufacturing lines running. The team maintains electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems so that uptime, safety and equipment reliability stay high. The role takes ownership of maintaining, troubleshooting and improving automated machinery across the plant, working closely with Manufacturing, Production, Automation and Engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Maintenance and troubleshooting of Mitsubishi PLCs (GX Works / GX Developer): modify logic, fix interlocks, support HMI updates, analyse alarms, I/O faults, communication issues and machine stoppages
• Electrical work: VFDs, servo drives, power supplies, contactors and relays; panel wiring, modifications and upgrades; preventive maintenance of electrical systems and panels; compliance with electrical safety, grounding and high-voltage SOPs
• Mechanical and electro-mechanical work: gearboxes, bearings and motion systems; pneumatic cylinders, valves, manifolds and FRLs; hydraulic systems, pressure controls and dispensing units; automation fixtures, conveyors, SPMs and robotics
• Preventive maintenance as scheduled, breakdown logs, PM records and escalation notes; vendor coordination for spares, service visits and upgrades
• Support machine installation, commissioning and line readiness; identify recurring issues and implement CAPA

Required profile

• 4-6 years of hands-on experience maintaining automated industrial machinery
• ITI / Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics (or similar)
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, good communication with operators, engineers and vendors, calm problem-solving under pressure

Required skills

• Mandatory: strong experience with Mitsubishi PLCs
• Ability to troubleshoot VFDs, relays, contactors, sensors and safety circuits
• Good electrical wiring skills and understanding of industrial panels
• Working knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics and dispensing machines
• Reading electrical and mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams and P&IDs
• Basic understanding of MES/SCADA alarms and machine data (good to have)
