Mainframe Host Network Support (HNS) – SME

About the role

As a Mainframe Host Network Support (HNS) Subject Matter Expert at Kyndryl, you will solve complex problems and anticipate future issues across a range of mainframe platforms and services. You will manage client system data, ensure day‑to‑day solutions and security compliance, and work closely with technicians to prioritize and resolve tickets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide end‑to‑end support for Mainframe Host Network Systems, including incident resolution, problem management and performance optimization.
• Act as a Network Communications SME for enterprise‑grade mainframe environments.
• Administer and maintain z/OS Communication Server components (VTAM & TCP/IP stack).
• Perform advanced problem determination using traces, dumps and logs.
• Manage Policy Agent (PAGENT) configurations and policy‑based networking.
• Analyze and resolve network connectivity, performance and latency issues.
• Conduct network trace analysis (IP, packet, VTAM) to diagnose complex issues.
• Participate in project implementations, migrations and transformation initiatives involving host networking.

Required profile

• Experience solving complex mainframe network problems and identifying potential future issues.
• Ability to manage systems data and ensure security compliance for client environments.
• Proven capability to oversee assignment queues and prioritize tickets effectively.
• Willingness to share expertise, recommend modernization options and cultivate relationships with stakeholders.
• Comfort collaborating with cross‑functional teams and diverse technical groups.
