Linux System Administrator

About the role

As a Linux System Administrator at Kyndryl you will manage and support mission‑critical operating systems for banking clients. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security and performance of Linux and Windows environments while collaborating with monitoring and application teams.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade and patch Linux, Windows and middleware operating systems.
• Perform OS hardening, user management, audit compliance and security remediation (VAPT, CISO observations).
• Monitor load, performance, logs and thresholds; take corrective actions and coordinate with the bank’s monitoring team.
• Manage file systems – creation, mounting, un‑mounting and space management.
• Execute preventive maintenance, BIOS/firmware updates and detailed OS upgrade planning.
• Prepare and hand over standard operating procedures and documentation to client teams.
• Collaborate with application, security and vendor teams to resolve OS‑related issues and close audit findings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in system administration for Linux and Windows servers.
• Familiarity with banking or regulated environments and audit processes (ISO, RBI, VAPT).
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tickets and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

Required skills

• Linux (RHEL/CentOS, Ubuntu) and Windows Server administration.
• Middleware installation and configuration.
• OS patch management, hardening and security vulnerability remediation.
• File system management and performance tuning.
• Log monitoring and threshold alert handling.
• BIOS/Firmware upgrade procedures.
• Understanding of audit compliance (ISO, RBI, VAPT, SCD).
