Licensed Attorney – Real Estate & Litigation (Remote, India)

About the role

Castellan, a U.S.-based real estate investment firm, seeks a U.S.-licensed attorney located in India to support its real‑estate transactions and litigation activities. The role is fully remote and requires overlap with U.S. Eastern Time business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal support for real‑estate transactions, including contracts, leases, financing, and development agreements.
• Manage litigation related to property disputes, foreclosures, loan defaults, and debt collection.
• Draft and review pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and regulatory filings.
• Conduct due‑diligence on assets, covering title review, zoning, and compliance.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local laws such as FDCPA and FCRA.
• Coordinate with U.S. legal teams, clients, and external counsel on case strategy.
• Assist in enforcement of judgments, including garnishments and liens.
• Monitor legal risks and advise on asset protection and dispute resolution.

Required profile

• Active U.S. bar license.
• Based in India with ability to work remotely and overlap EST hours.
• 3–5 years of experience in U.S. real‑estate law and litigation, especially debt recovery.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. real‑estate contracts, foreclosure processes, and civil litigation.
• Excellent legal drafting, research, and analytical abilities.
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently.

Required skills

• Experience with legal case management systems such as Clio.
• Experience with legal case management systems such as PracticePanther.
