Legal Researcher

About the role

We are seeking a Legal Researcher to support the Centre’s policy work on the regulatory and legislative dimensions of India’s enterprise ecosystem. The role sits at the intersection of law and public policy, analysing regulations, tracking legislative changes, and translating legal complexity into clear, actionable recommendations for the India 2047 reform agenda and the Enterprise Growth Lab.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal and regulatory research across banking and finance law, industrial/land regulation, customs and trade law, and MSME‑related statutes.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments such as budget announcements, RBI/SEBI circulars, ministry notifications, and court rulings relevant to ease of doing business.
• Draft policy notes, comparative legal analyses, and briefing memos for senior leadership.
• Assist in drafting model laws, comments on draft bills or regulations, and submissions to government consultations.
• Coordinate with external counsel, academic partners, and industry legal teams as required.
• Contribute to published research including issue briefs, expert commentary, and long‑form policy papers.

Required profile

• Law degree from a top‑tier institution (National Law Universities or equivalent).
• 3–4 years of relevant experience in a law firm, litigation, legal‑policy think‑tank, regulatory affairs, or in‑house legal/compliance role.
• Strong legal research and drafting abilities.
