Legal Operations Specialist – Litigation & Investigations

About the role

The Legal Operations Specialist will join the General Counsel’s Organization at American Express, supporting the Global Litigation & Investigations Team and the Global Legal Order Processing Centre of Excellence for the India market. The role focuses on end‑to‑end handling of third‑party legal orders, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and applicable privacy laws.

Key responsibilities

• Set up cases in the case management system for third‑party legal orders such as Law Enforcement Agency requests, Debt Recovery Tribunal requests, Custom Notices and Tax Notices.
• Assess the validity of each legal order according to American Express procedures and prepare appropriate correspondence.
• Evaluate the scope of requests, identify relevant customer relationships and retrieve responsive data/documents from internal platforms.
• Prepare and remit timely responses to legal orders while maintaining high quality and confidentiality.
• Collaborate closely with the Legal Analyst and other leaders, raising escalations when necessary.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of India‑market processing requirements and procedures.
• Manage aspects of special projects related to routine and complex subpoenas.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in law or a related field.
• Administrative experience in a legal, compliance or similar department.
• Strong ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
