Legal Manager – Dispute Resolution

About the role

Jiostar India Private Limited is seeking a motivated Legal Manager specializing in dispute resolution to join its corporate legal team in Mumbai. The role involves handling pre‑litigation advice, managing civil and criminal litigation, and providing regulatory and IP support across the media‑entertainment business.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and review pleadings, notices, replies and other documents for copyright, trademark, personality‑right, privacy and contractual disputes.
• Formulate and execute litigation strategies, brief and appoint external counsel and senior counsels.
• Provide legal opinions to business units on complex issues and recent legal developments to mitigate risk.
• Conduct pre‑release due‑diligence and risk analysis of scripts, screenplays, movies, musical content and web‑series.
• Manage contentious litigation and regulatory affairs, liaise with statutory authorities, regulators and law‑enforcement agencies.
• Support anti‑piracy actions and intellectual‑property protection initiatives.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in a media‑entertainment company or an IP‑litigation law firm.
• Strong drafting, analytical and negotiation skills with sound commercial judgment.
• Ability to independently manage sensitive legal matters with significant business impact.
• Experience in civil and criminal law, employment law, copyright, trademark and other IP matters.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, capable of interacting with senior management, external counsel and regulators.
