Legal Entity Controller

About the role

Stripe is expanding its Accounting team in Bangalore and seeks a Legal Entity Controller to own the full controllership lifecycle for assigned legal entities. You will drive financial close, statutory reporting, audit readiness and regulatory compliance while partnering with cross‑functional finance teams.

Key responsibilities

• End‑to‑end controllership for assigned legal entity(ies), including financial close, statutory reporting, audit readiness and regulatory filings.
• Prepare and sign‑off statutory financial statements and coordinate adoption processes with local boards, directors and external advisors.
• Manage external auditors and service providers, set scope, drive timelines and maintain high‑quality documentation.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly and year‑end close, leading complex journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis and executive reporting.
• Design, implement and maintain entity‑level accounting policies, internal control frameworks and SOX compliance.
• Partner with Tax, Treasury, Legal, FP&A and regional finance on transactions and policy changes.
• Identify and deliver process‑improvement and automation initiatives (RPA, ERP configuration, reporting pipelines).
• Resolve technical accounting questions applying US GAAP, IFRS and local GAAP.
• Coach junior teammates and lead cross‑functional projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience in end‑to‑end controllership for legal entities.
• Strong knowledge of statutory financial statements, audit management and internal controls.
• Ability to collaborate with Tax, Treasury, Legal, FP&A and regional finance teams.
• Track record of driving process improvements and automation.
