Lead Software Engineer - Mobile (Android)

About the role

Freshworks is looking for a Lead Android Engineer to own the technical direction of its Android applications and SDKs. You will shape architecture, ensure stability and performance, and guide the team through design reviews and mentorship while staying hands‑on with the most challenging code.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve Android architecture across multiple apps and SDKs, including module boundaries, dependency management, state handling, navigation, and offline sync.
• Make and document critical technical decisions that affect long‑term API contracts and production stability.
• Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and pair‑program to solve complex problems.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Backend, and QA to shape features from concept to release.
• Maintain release health, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement of the codebase.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading Android development for large‑scale consumer or enterprise apps.
• Strong architectural mindset with a track record of making impactful technical decisions.
• Hands‑on coding ability, especially in the most difficult parts of a system.
• Excellent collaboration skills, able to work with cross‑functional teams without relying on hierarchy.
• Mentorship experience and a passion for raising the technical bar of the team.
