Lead Software Engineer – Big Data (Palantir Skywise)

About the role

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to drive technical excellence across the Airbus Skywise ecosystem, built on Apache Spark and lightweight data processing engines. You will define standards, enforce best practices, and mentor a distributed team while collaborating directly with European business partners.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, end‑to‑end performance optimisation solutions on Skywise.
• Define and enforce technical best practices and “Golden Rules” across the codebase.
• Conduct source‑code audits, deep‑technology root‑cause analysis, and E2E optimisation projects.
• Mentor team members and guide them in building robust, maintainable code.
• Engage with European customers to gather requirements and manage expectations.

Required profile

• Graduate degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of total IT experience, including 4+ years with Palantir Skywise development.
• Minimum 3 years in a customer‑facing support or service role, preferably with European clients.
• Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Required skills

• Apache Spark, PySpark, Spark SQL
• Lightweight engines such as Polars and DuckDB
• Skywise tools: Workshop, Slate, Object Explorer / Foundry Ontology
• Programming languages: Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Scala
• SQL and relational database systems
• Git version control, CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with SAP/ERP platforms (plus) and Pandas (plus)
