Lead Nurse – Quality, Patient Safety & Assurance

About the role

The Lead Nurse – Quality, Patient Safety & Assurance provides strategic clinical leadership to ensure high‑quality patient safety and robust care assurance across the Trust. This senior nursing role drives the development, implementation and embedding of policies, procedures and training that support a culture of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and embed quality and patient safety policies, standards and procedures.
• Provide expert clinical nursing advice to multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
• Lead and coordinate quality improvement initiatives and patient safety assurance activities.
• Strengthen collaboration between clinical teams, quality improvement functions and governance bodies.
• Oversee training, education and professional development programmes related to quality and safety.
• Monitor performance metrics, produce reports and advise senior management on improvement actions.

Required profile

• Current registration with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Master’s degree in a healthcare‑related discipline or equivalent (SCQF level 11).
• Recognised leadership qualification in Quality Improvement.
• Proven track record of nursing leadership and delivery of quality improvement projects.
