Lead Data Analyst

About the role

Jump Trading Group is seeking a senior, hands‑on Lead Data Analyst to drive the development and quality of its proprietary data platform. The role sits at the intersection of research, trading, and engineering, offering a unique 360‑degree view of the firm’s data ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the team’s work by translating requests from researchers, traders, and engineers into well‑defined projects, set priorities, and drive them to completion.
• Own data quality standards, ensuring collection, tagging, documentation, and validation meet rigorous expectations before delivery.
• Guide individual analysts by assigning work aligned with strengths, providing regular feedback, and coaching on data research techniques and AI tools.
• Stay hands‑on with the most ambiguous, high‑stakes data problems, modeling curiosity and rigor for the team.
• Serve as the primary point of contact, communicating findings, status, and managing expectations across business units.
• Partner with data engineers to identify manual workflows for automation and ensure AI‑driven pipelines retain appropriate human‑in‑the‑loop review.

Required profile

• 7+ years of hands‑on data experience in the financial industry (trading firm, hedge fund, bank, or vendor).
• 3+ years leading complex projects and other analysts.
• Direct experience collecting, tagging, and cleaning data, preferably on an alternative or proprietary data team.
• Broad familiarity with alternative, fundamental, market, and reference data.
• Expertise in at least one asset class (equities, options, futures, ETFs, or FX) and its market conventions.
• Exceptional attention to detail, deep curiosity about data and markets, and strong analytical/problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
