Lead, Control Testing - People Risk & Controls

About the role

As a Lead Analyst – Control Testing you will be responsible for delivering independent, high‑quality first‑line control testing across Talent & Culture processes and employee lifecycle activities. You will assess control design, evaluate operating effectiveness and provide insights that strengthen ANZ’s risk management framework.

Key responsibilities

• Execute risk‑based first‑line control testing for Talent & Culture processes and employee lifecycle activities.
• Conduct regulatory compliance reviews, identify control weaknesses, process gaps and non‑compliance instances.
• Maintain testing documentation, workpapers and evidence in line with governance, audit and regulatory requirements.
• Analyse testing outcomes to spot trends, root causes, emerging risks and thematic control issues.
• Escalate material control weaknesses through established governance channels.
• Translate findings into clear, actionable remediation recommendations and monitor their implementation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing methodologies, analytics, automation opportunities and overall testing capability.
• Partner with control owners, business stakeholders and subject‑matter experts to enhance risk awareness and control effectiveness.

Required profile

• Proven experience in control testing, risk assessment and regulatory compliance within a financial services environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify root causes and emerging risks.
• Excellent communication skills to convey testing outcomes and remediation actions to stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively with control owners, SMEs and business partners.
