Lead Civil & Structural Design Engineer (Checker)

About the role

As the Design Lead – Civil & Structural, you will ensure project schedules are met, manage resources, and oversee the design, drawings and deliverables for critical infrastructure projects. You will lead a team of engineers and draftspersons to deliver high‑quality civil and structural solutions on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Collect project inputs from clients, Project Engineering Manager and vendors, including plot details, feeder arrangements and General Arrangement drawings.
• Prepare civil and structural deliverables such as buildings, gantries, equipment structures, drainage systems, cable trenches and roads.
• Review BOQ, provide technical clarifications to contracts team, and validate design calculations and drawings.
• Coordinate inter‑disciplinary checks and support the Site Execution team with clarifications.
• Check pre‑award vendor evaluations against technical specifications and forward validation documents to Supply Chain Management.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech. or M.Tech. in Civil Engineering.
• 8–10 years of experience in civil and structural design for substation or power distribution projects.
• Experience with AIS/GIS substation design up to 400 kV is preferred.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of RCC and steel structures, outdoor gantries, equipment structures, transformers, site grading, drainage, roads and cable trenches.
• Proficiency with design software: STAAD Pro, ETABS, AutoCAD, Revit and Tekla.
• Detailed understanding of substation equipment layouts and related civil/structural drawings.
