Lab Engineer – Civil Materials Testing

About the role

The Lab Engineer will develop and deliver laboratory testing services for civil construction materials, ensuring compliance with quality standards and client specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Assign and carry out tests according to priority set by the Lab Manager.
• Prepare accurate test reports and certificates for all samples.
• Assist in the preparation and updating of technical procedures and work instructions.
• Ensure appropriate resources are available for laboratory operations.
• Monitor equipment maintenance, calibration schedules and environmental conditions.
• Maintain standard reference materials, records and NABL documentation.
• Perform internal calibrations under the guidance of the Technical Manager.
• Prepare measurement of uncertainty documents.
• Implement the Quality Management System and corporate standards within the lab area.

Required profile

• BE/B.Tech/Diploma in Engineering.
• Minimum 6–8 years of relevant experience in civil material testing laboratories.
• Familiarity with Bureau Veritas quality assurance processes and HSE guidelines.
• Ability to work under the guidance of the Technical Manager and coordinate with engineers, contractors and clients.

Required skills

• Concrete, soil, steel, asphalt and aggregates testing.
• Operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Equipment calibration and scheduling.
• Knowledge of Indian Standards (IS) for construction materials.
• Preparation of measurement of uncertainty documentation.
• Compliance with NABL documentation requirements.
