Junior Safety Manager

About the role

GVS PROJECTS is seeking a Junior Safety Manager to join its on‑site team in Salem. This full‑time position supports safety management across a range of infrastructure and engineering projects, helping to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular safety inspections and monitor compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
• Assist in the implementation of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
• Plan, deliver and document safety training sessions for diverse teams.
• Maintain accurate safety records, reports and documentation.
• Contribute to risk assessments and hazard identification for ongoing and upcoming projects.
• Participate in accident and incident investigations, perform root‑cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors to address safety concerns promptly.
• Promote a strong safety culture through proactive communication with all stakeholders.

Required profile

• Certification from an accredited safety institute (mandatory).
• Relevant academic background – diploma, degree or certification in safety management, engineering, environmental science or a related field.
• Working knowledge of risk assessment methods, hazard identification and development of preventive/corrective action plans.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate with project teams, contractors and stakeholders.
• Attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate safety records.
• Familiarity with infrastructure or construction environments; experience in power or railway sectors is an advantage.
