Junior Linux Engineer

About the role

The Amritapuri Campus is looking for a motivated Junior Linux Engineer to join its IT team. You will support the installation, configuration and upkeep of Linux servers across physical, virtual and cloud platforms. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in a dynamic academic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in installing, configuring and maintaining Linux operating systems on servers, VMs and cloud instances.
• Troubleshoot performance issues, network connectivity problems and system crashes.
• Manage user accounts, permissions and file access.
• Monitor system performance and resource utilization, reporting anomalies to senior staff.
• Apply security best practices, including regular patching, updates and firewall rules.
• Support backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity.
• Document configurations, processes and standard operating procedures.
• Write basic shell scripts to automate routine tasks.
• Collaborate with other IT team members on projects and issue resolution.

Required profile

• Graduation in BCA, MCA or BTech (preferred but not mandatory).
• Basic knowledge of Linux Essentials, CompTIA Linux+ or RHCE concepts.
• Enthusiasm for learning and ability to work in a team‑oriented environment.
