IT Desktop Support Technician – Backfill

About the role

We are seeking an experienced IT Desktop Support Technician to join our team on a backfill basis. The role involves providing on‑site field support for hardware, software, and operating system issues across a range of enterprise environments while ensuring compliance with warranty and security policies.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems on desktops, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices.
• Perform smart‑hand activities such as installing, configuring, and troubleshooting networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, cabling).
• Provide desk‑side support for Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
• Utilise ticketing tools (ServiceNow, Remedy) to log, track, and close incidents.
• Conduct repeat‑call analysis and develop preventive actions to reduce recurring issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate status updates to clients and management.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hands‑on IT infrastructure support experience.
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently or within a team, and meet deadlines.
• Flexibility to work varied schedules as needed.

Required skills

• Windows OS administration.
• macOS and Linux OS basics.
• TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and RDP networking protocols.
• LAN/WAN concepts and smart‑hand hardware support.
• Desktop hardware troubleshooting (PCs, monitors, printers, scanners, routers, switches, firewalls).
• Experience with ServiceNow or Remedy ticketing platforms.
• CompTIA A+ certification (preferred) and vendor certifications (Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo) a plus.
