Import Supply Planner

About the role

The Import Supply Planner will own end‑to‑end import planning, ensuring that global suppliers deliver the right quantities at the right time while maintaining optimal inventory levels. You will work closely with demand, warehouse, finance and logistics teams to drive high service levels and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute import supply plans aligned with demand forecasts and inventory policies.
• Maintain safety stock, reorder points and monitor slow‑moving or expiring inventory.
• Plan and release purchase orders to global suppliers and track order lifecycle to goods receipt.
• Manage sea and air import logistics, coordinate with freight forwarders, customs house agents and transporters.
• Ensure accurate import documentation and compliance with Indian customs regulations, duties and DGFT requirements.
• Collaborate with demand planning, customer service, warehouse and finance teams as the single point of contact for import queries.
• Track KPIs such as OTIF, days of supply, lead‑time adherence and logistics cost, and drive corrective actions.
• Identify process improvements, promote digitalization and support supply‑chain transformation initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Commerce or related field (MBA/PGDM preferred).
• 4–8 years of experience in supply planning, import/export or logistics, preferably in B2B food ingredients, pharma or chemicals.
• Hands‑on experience managing international suppliers and import operations.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and attention‑to‑detail capabilities.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of SAP (MM / APO / IBP) or equivalent ERP system.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for planning and analysis.
• Understanding of import regulations, customs clearance procedures and Incoterms.
• Familiarity with Blue Yonder supply planning (preferred).
