HR Generalist / HR Manager

About the role

Frigate Engineering Services is looking for a hands‑on HR Generalist / HR Manager to lead payroll, talent acquisition, learning & development and employee relations. Based in Trichy with occasional travel to Chennai, you will work directly with the founder and finance teams to build a high‑performing HR function for a fast‑scaling manufacturing platform.

Key responsibilities

• Run monthly payroll, manage PF/ESI/PT/TDS compliance, statutory filings and final settlements.
• Own end‑to‑end hiring for engineering, sales, sourcing and production roles, building pipelines and overseeing onboarding.
• Design structured onboarding programs, identify skill gaps and coordinate technical and behavioral training.
• Support the appraisal cycle, maintain HR records, policies and handle employee queries.
• Act as the trusted point of contact for teams in Trichy and Chennai, managing grievances, retention and culture.

Required profile

• 5+ years of HR generalist experience, preferably in manufacturing, engineering or B2B industrial settings.
• Strong hands‑on knowledge of payroll and statutory compliance (PF, ESI, PT, TDS, labour law).
• Proven track record in hiring both technical and non‑technical roles.
• Comfortable managing a mixed blue‑collar and white‑collar workforce across locations.
• MBA/PGDM in HR preferred but not mandatory if experience is strong.
• Fluent in Tamil and English; Hindi a plus.
• Based in Trichy or willing to relocate.
